FluidLogic Tactical-Cutting Edge Active Hydration™ for Those who Serve

By Kevin Mantovani, Senior Vice President of Federal Programs

Throughout history, the canteen has provided “passive hydration” to allow those on the battlefield to carry water wherever they went. That technology remained pretty much unchanged until the rubber reservoir & drink hose packs entered the scene about 30 years ago, with companies like CamelBak, Hydrostorm, and dozens of others providing products for military and active civilians to easily carry and drink water through a small hose.

REVOLUTIONARY TECHNOLOGY

For years, FluidLogic has built in-car hydration systems to help optimize the performance of top NASCAR drivers like Ricky Stenhouse Jr, who won the Daytona 500 in February 2023, the top three finishers at the Long Beach IndyCar Grand Prix in April 2023, and dozens of other champion drivers in many classes including Baja 1000. Clinical studies and testimony from professional drivers show they are consistently faster and have improved cognitive and physical performance when using FluidLogic compared to passive hydration products. They also have lower core body temperatures, and lower heart rates, and even after 20 straight hours in a 130F racing truck in Baja 1000 feel great. The same technology has been miniaturized and built as wearable ruggedized packs for military users who will experience the same benefits. These are called Active Hydration™ products, and as I’ll explain-they are game changers!

Having spent 25 years on active duty in the U.S. Air Force I understand the challenge of staying hydrated from first-hand experience. As a commander, I saw the consequences of young men and women with both unlimited access and no access to water dropping from heat exhaustion. Since joining FluidLogic and gaining a better understanding of the science behind hydration I now understand we just weren’t drinking correctly, over and under-hydrating both have negative consequences. Only FluidLogic products predict a user’s hydration needs, alert them when it’s time to drink then at the push of a button deliver the precise amount of water needed according to a personalized prescription of small doses of water. If the operator follows the haptic prompts given by our product, drinking small sips every few minutes when they are active, they will operate at their peak physically and mentally and absorb nearly all the water consumed with little need to urinate, that’s a game changer when stopping to “go” isn’t an option. Hands-free, thought-free and effortless hydration-because in combat there is no water break!

FluidLogic Tactical In the Field

Hydration is recognized as a critical need in the military, from the first day of basic training to the scorching sands of Iraq, Afghanistan, or in the Pacific jungles-heat strain is a constant concern and a real enemy…until now. I joined the growing and talented team at FluidLogic because I believe in their products and buy-in to their mission to “Hydrate the Human Race.” My mission is to lead FluidLogic Tactical and hydrate those who serve!

We are meticulously designing a complete hydration ecosystem that will provide warfighters with water at the press of a button, delivered directly to their lips, whether they are fixing a jet, securing a perimeter, or parachuting from a C-130 to rescue a downed pilot. In 2021-2022 FluidLogic worked closely with the USAF’s innovation office (AFWERX) and a Para Rescue and Survival expert, MSgt Bon Strout to develop FluidLogic’s first tactical hydration systems that can mount on a tactical vest or in a vehicle. In April, FluidLogic partnered with HQ AFCENT & a Special Ops Wing to propose further development and testing to AFWERX and DoD to develop specialized hydration systems that can be used in a chemical environment. The Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) and dozens of other DoD stakeholders in the chemical-biological defense community agree this will be a game-changer for service men and women. During a May 2023 DTRA exercise to demonstrate advanced FluidLogic prototypes an Army Soldier said he felt using FluidLogic was “life-changing” for him. A Marine said it was the first time she ever drank water while wearing a gas mask and felt great as a result. That’s powerful, and like racecar drivers in fire suits and full-face helmets wearing that gear can be grueling and hot-but with FluidLogic their core body temperature remains normal, they are consistently alert and perform at their peak both physically and mentally!

FluidLogic is excited to announce the upcoming release of our first Tactical Systems for commercial sales in 2024. These innovative systems have been meticulously designed based on extensive feedback from warfighters and have undergone rigorous testing both in the lab and "in the field."

These are the first of many new products coming from FluidLogic and we are confident they will meet the needs of our valued customers in the military and active service sectors, providing them with reliable and cutting-edge hydration capabilities.
